“Flat Jesus”

Journey with "Flat Jesus"

“And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20

Shepherd of the Hill is adopting the "Flat Jesus" concept (inspired by a national school project called Flat Stanley, based on a book written by Jeff Brown) to create a way to keep our church connected during this time of social distancing and quarantine. No matter your age, we are encouraging everyone to join in this adventure together and spread the love of Jesus and hope during this time of uncertainty. Whether you are waiting in long lines at the grocery store, taking a walk around your neighborhood, or simply sitting on your couch watching your favorite tv show, we invite you take a picture with your Flat Jesus and share a pictures on Facebook and or Instagram.  There is no limit on number of pictures shared!

Flat Jesus reminds us to keep Christ at the center of our lives even, or especially, when we are apart from our church home.

Three ways to create your very own Flat Jesus:

Option 1:

Starting Friday March 20th at 11am, swing by the front doors of church where you can pick up an already prepared Flat Jesus (you will just need to add some color)

Option 2:

1. Print out the double template found here:  flatJesusScan

2. Be creative! Decorate Flat Jesus.

3. Cut out and attach a popsicle stick to the back of Flat Jesus.

Option 3:

1. Design and create your own version of Flat Jesus.

Next Steps:

Take your Flat Jesus everywhere with you and capture lots of pictures, but don’t forget to share the pictures with us!

Upload your pictures directly to the Shepherd of the Hill Presbyterian Church USA Facebook page or tag us on Instagram @shepherdofthehillpcusa  #sothjourneywithjesus or email your pictures to Brittain Southwell at brittainsouth@gmail.com to share on all of our platforms.

Some Helpful Hints:

You may want to “laminate” your Flat Jesus with packing tape. This way if he attempts to walk on water or gets messy at dinner he’ll be protected! Write on the back of you Flat Jesus a reminder of how and where to upload pictures to.

Remember be creative, share your adventures with us all.

We are excited to see all the adventures you and your Flat Jesus will take not just during this time of quarantine, but into the summer as well. I look forward to the day that we will gather back together as one church family. Blessings and good health to you and your loved ones.

You are all in my prayers, Brittain Southwell
