Session is pleased to introduce to the congregation our pastoral intern, W. Preston Woodall.
Preston will begin his internship of 8-10 hours a week at SOTH in general pastoral studies on Sunday September 7, 2014 through Sunday March 15, 2015. He will be a fourth-year student at Seattle University this fall, completing his studies in the M.Div. program at the School of Theology and Ministry.
Shepherd of the Hill is partnering with Seattle University and the Committee on Preparation for Ministry (Olympia Presbytery) as Preston moves toward ordination with the PCUSA. Preston is currently “under care” as a candidate for ministry with the Olympia Presbytery and is a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church of Tacoma. He currently resides in North Tacoma.
Preston is pursuing his ordination as a second career after his honorable discharge from the United States Air Force (22 years) as a physician in flight medicine. He is a graduate of Pacific Lutheran University (1976) and the Kansas City University, College of Osteopathic Medicine (1981). Preston received further education and training in medicine at Firelands Medical Center in Sandusky, Ohio (Family Practice Residency) and at the USAF School of Aerospace Medicine at Brooks AFB in Texas.
As part of Preston’s education at Seattle University, he has also completed an internship at the Tacoma Lutheran Retirement Community (2012-2013) and a Clinical Pastoral Education internship at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, Washington (2014).
